May I present to you, dear Reader, a vision of pure, unadulterated cuteness?  Meet little Miss Sadie…

Don’t you just love this mini four-poster bed and gauzy canopy?  My sweet Dad actually made the bed for me, and my Mom saw the canopy and bought it for me.  Thanks Mom and Dad! XOXO

Just a sneak peek of the newborn session I did yesterday.  Isn’t she perfect?

Allow me to introduce to you Little Miss Kyla, the sweetest, cutest little 5 month old baby you could ever meet, and her beautiful mom, Amanda!  I had the best time capturing all of Kyla’s adorable expressions.  Such a darling!

Ok, so it’s not actually Tuesday–but this post couldn’t wait.  I received a request from a reader who just commented on one of my older posts, asking to see a before and after of my ‘baby on a Harley’ shot.  I love hearing from readers, and I am really passionate about the topic of safety when photographing newborns.  I think it’s important for photographers and parents alike to see what it really looks like behind the scenes, and to understand how important Photoshop skills are in ensuring a beautiful end product without risking the safety of the baby.

So here is the before.  You can see that grandma is behind the motorcycle, with her hand on the baby, spotting the entire time.  At no time does she take her hand from the baby.  And standing just outside the frame is the baby’s father spotting as well.  This was a while ago, but if I remember correctly, I used a composite of two images.  You see how the grandma has her hand on the lower part of the baby’s back?  For the second shot I had the father come in behind the motorcycle, but this time he positioned himself to the right and held the baby on his upper back.  The reason I did this is because I wanted a clean shot of the baby’s head and back against the gray backdrop; I then merged the two photos together to make one uninterrupted line.

A while back I had the delight of photographing the 4-month old daughter of one of my former wedding couples, the darling Miss Carsen.  Isn’t she as cute as a bug?

I had wonderful time cuddling this little cutie pie to sleep – another aspect about newborn photography that I love!  He tried his hardest to stay awake the whole time, but he caught a few winks towards the end of the session. ;)

When a friend has a baby, it makes a newborn session all the more special for me.  I am so happy for my dear friend Mollie, who is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  We go way back, from when I worked as the Activity Director at a nursing home.  Mollie, who was one of my assistants, was someone that I could always count on, rain or shine; words can not describe how grateful I am for all the times that Mollie pulled through for me when I needed her, always going the extra mile, always someone I could place my complete trust in.  A friend like that is truly priceless.

I love this first image, and I have my Dad to thank for the awesome tree stump prop.  He actually hollowed out the inside with a chainsaw to make it easier to move around, plus he made another one for me that has bark.  Thanks, Dad!!

Look how precious, smiling in his sleep.  I wonder what he’s dreaming about.

My photog friend Aaron Varga was there to help out, and I must say, I was impressed with his ability to jump right in and learn how to calm the baby. Thanks, Aaron!

I am always sooo excited when I get repeat clients, because it means that I get to see their little ones grow!  And when that little one is a gorgeous little red-haired beauty like little Miss A, I am just giddy.  LOVE me some red hair.

I’ve known Miss A since she was a baby bump, and here she is at 8 months.  Not only does she have red hair, but a style that kind of reminds me of Conan O’Brien.  :)

And of course it’s always nice to see the furry members of the family again, too.

Love this stage of baby-hood.

You gotta love the attitude in this one.  Cuteness overload!!
