I’ve been photographing this family since the time when they were just a couple, waiting for the birth of their first child.  How lucky am I that I get to watch this family grow?  This moment between mother and daughter is so sweet!

I had the pleasure of photographing a maternity session a few weeks before Christmas for one of the cutest couples ever!

Just after Christmas, Ashley and Steve received the best gift in the world.  Can I just say that I love my job?

I had some Photoshop brushes that I got from Obsidian Dawn some time ago, and I couldn’t resist using one of them for this one.  She just reminded me of a little butterfly all wrapped up like that, as cute as a fairy princess.

Do you know what I love about doing maternity photos?  It’s the wonderful feeling of anticipation.  All of your hopes and dreams for this child, the wonderful future you imagine for her…the world of possibilities waiting for her…the infinite potential packaged in this tiny person, cradled in her mother’s womb…knowing that life is about to change very soon…  These aren’t just belly pictures; they are portraits of love and hope.

What a privilege it is for me to be given a glimpse into a couple’s private world for a moment, to witness the love they have for each other and for their child. “J” and “R” allowed me to be a part of their world for a moment, and together we created some beautiful images.

They even brought their first two “children”–their furry children, that is. :)

J & R, thanks so much for letting me share in your anticipation for a little while.  I’m so excited to meet your little girl for the newborn session!

You know, it really is a small world.  I used to dismiss the saying as an old cliché, but the older I get, the more I am discovering that it’s true!  Meet Lisa and her husband Dan, a lovely couple who is expecting their first child in a few days.  Lisa was referred to me by a good friend that I used to work with, and when I found out who the referral was, I couldn’t believe it.  Lisa was in fact my assistant 10 years ago at that very same company; she was a teenager in high school then, but now she is all grown up with a career in education, a husband, and a baby on the way.  Where does the time go?

Lisa looks fantastic; more mature, and yet exactly the same as when I knew her all those years ago.  The pregnancy has only made her more beautiful–she is glowing!

At last, it’s time to unleash my brand-spankin’ new blog!  After much labor and love, this baby is finally ready to go, and I am thrilled!

I can’t think of a better way to start things off than by posting about a wonderful couple and the maternity photo session I did with them recently.  One of the things I love about my job is getting to know super nice people like Tanya and Josh.

I think this one is so cute.  The baby is going to love his furry older sister, Molly.

I love the intimate feel of this image.  There is nothing better than spooning with your soulmate as you dream about the future.
