I am thrilled to announce that one of my weddings was featured in Pittsburgh Weddings Magazine again!  Vicki and Tom are such an awesome, super-nice couple, and I couldn’t be happier for them.  Pick up a copy, or check out the online version of the feature here!

How cool is this?  I photographed the weddings of two sisters, Maureen and Molly, this year.  And just this week, images from both of their weddings were published!

Maureen and Art’s photo appears in the December 7th issue of the Pittsburgh City Paper, “Best of Pittsburgh” edition.  Maureen and Art held their ceremony and reception at Phipps Conservatory, which was named Best Place for a Wedding Reception.  You can read the full article here.

Molly and Matt’s groom’s cake was featured on Brides.com, and there’s a really cool story behind it.  “Matt loves old black-and-white Japanese films,” says Molly, “and his favorite director is Yasujiro Ozu, so all the film reels are labeled with title/year if the films (even some in Japanese!). He was so excited about it and totally surprised.   This month one of my images from Jenny and Bradley’s wedding at Phipps Conservatory was featured in The Knot magazine!  The article is entitled “Venues With A View” – and Jenny and Bradley’s guests certainly had a beautiful setting to look at during the  ceremony held in the Broderie Room at Phipps.  Congratulations, you two!  xoxo Sandy

Remember Thera and Brian, who had an awesome vintage travel theme wedding?  They did such an amazing job of planning fabulous vintage and travel details for their wedding that they caught the eye of the lovely people at the ‘i do’ it yourself blog.  Check it out here -> real wedding: Thera and Brian.  The ‘i do’ it yourself blog is full of inspiring ideas for the DIY bride.  Each month they pick a theme or color scheme and follow it through from wedding invitations to table decorations and everything in between.  This month’s theme is Vintage Travel, which I just love!  Great job with all those amazing details, Thera and Brian!

I took this photo of Shannon and Nick in 2008 when I was just a newbie in the industry; they just celebrated their two year anniversary this October.  They were the coolest couple ever!  I am sooo excited, because soon I will be photographing their first baby!! Eeee!

I’ve been sitting on this news for a while, but I can finally let it out:  Red Lotus Photography has been awarded The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2010 Pick!!  I am so honored to be named one of Pittsburgh’s best wedding photographers!  A big thank you goes out to my clients for voting for me–you are wonderful, and I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be the one who captured your memories.

Growing up, I always wanted a career that I loved, and now I am living the dream!  I feel so fortunate that I get paid for doing something I feel so passionately about: storytelling and the preservation of memories.

A big hug and a kiss goes to my ever-supportive husband and biggest cheerleader, Eric, who always believes in me… and pushes me to believe in myself.  And of course an Eskimo kiss goes to my little girl, who is my very inspiration for being.  These two people are the loves of my life, the very air that I breathe, and without them I am nothing.
