If you are counting by weeks, it would be wise to schedule your session when you are around 30 weeks pregnant. If you take maternity photos after your eighth month of pregnancy, your maternity session might be uncomfortable. You want to avoid taking photos when your belly feels too heavy, usually after 35 weeks.

How do you prepare for a maternity photoshoot?

This is how to best prepare for a maternity session:
First thing we would suggest is to style your shoot. Discuss with your Red Lotus Photographer the style of shoot you are looking for and confirm that we will be able to fulfill that vision. Secondly, you want to pamper yourself. Several of our session options include hair and makeup to truly help in getting yourself pampered. Thirdly, look for props. While Red Lotus’ Maternity Photography has many props to choose from, please plan ahead for specific props that you may have in mind. Fourth, you will want to coordinate outfits. Once again Red Lotus’ Maternity Photography has you covered (literally) with several outfit choices on-site to accomodate many tastes and color palettes. Lastly, Do not stress. What color should I wear for maternity pictures?

Below are some of our clients’ favorite options for what to wear on a Red Lotus Photography maternity shoot. While various white shades are a common theme and generally preferred, some prefer pastel colors. Additionally, if white isn’t your thing, try a pastel blue, lavender, blush pink, or mint green.
